A Professional Psychology Practice
Located in Old Metairie, Fontenelle Psychology has provided psychological services to individuals and families in the greater New Orleans area for nearly 40 years. The practice was started in 1984 by Dr. Scuddy F. Fontenelle, III, a Licensed Clinical Psychologist, who was joined by his daughter, Dr. Sarah A. Fontenelle, a Licensed Developmental Psychologist, in 2018. Serving as a consultant to the practice is his son, Dr. Scuddy F. Fontenelle, IV, Ph.D., a Licensed Clinical Psychologist in New Haven, Connecticut. The Drs. Fontenelle bring extensive experience and professionalism to every case and customize support to individual needs and concerns.

Areas of Practice
Psychological Assessment
Depending on an individual’s needs, we determine the appropriate battery of psychological tests to better understand one’s thinking and behavior so we may be able to develop the best treatment program to improve development, learning, and function across all areas of life for people of all ages, from infancy through adulthood.
Parent Program — ZOPP
We developed the ZOPP program of parent training, a philosophy and practice of “Proximal Parenting”, and offer individual, family, and group training sessions at our office as well as in the community.

Psychotherapy & Training
We provide cognitive-behavioral therapy and training for adults, teens, and children in individual and group settings. We emphasize the importance of frustration tolerance, behavioral and organizational skills, and positive interpersonal relationship within the family, between parents and children, and students in the academic setting. We are equipped to help individuals of any age adapt quickly to personal and contextual problems that negatively impact daily function.
Training Workshops & Seminars
The Drs. Fontenelle are experienced instructors and are available to conduct, individually or together, training workshops and/or seminars related to human development, infant and child psychology, success in school, navigating difficult transitions, proficient parenting, research design and methodology, uni- and multivariate statistical analysis, and program evaluation.
Consultation & Recommendation
For individuals unsure of their needs, Fontenelle Psychology offers consultative appointments to discuss concerns and provide recommendations regarding appropriate assessment and intervention. We also offer referral to providers of alternative services when warranted.
Research consultation & collaboration
Fontenelle Psychology provides expert consultation and/or collaboration regarding research design and methodology, statistical analysis, program evaluation, and grant/report writing, to guide clients such as mental health practitioners, business owners, government agencies, and non-profit leaders in assessing and communicating the validity of their ideas, practices, programs, and interventions.
